Silliman University – Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants candidates took the crown as Mr. and Ms. Ambassadors of Goodwill this year in the pageant held at the St. Paul University- Dumaguete (SPUD) on July 21.
First year Accountancy students Jeff Laurence Ortega and Nathalie Magat bested four other candidates from SPUD, Negros Oriental State University, Asian College and Foundation University.
Ortega defended SU-JPIA reigning title for the sixth time and Magat for the first time this year.
Ortega said, “Friendship and bonds were made and I was thankful for that…The pressure was on me. Mr. JPIA of SU won as Mr. AoG due to the full support and motivation of SU-JPIA. We got it again for the 6th time straight.”
Considering the triumph as a blessing and bonus, Magat said, “I feel honored and proud to be the new Ms. AoG of the Negros Oriental Federation – JPIA especially that I am representing SU. It was a tough pageant and yet, through everyone’s love and support, I was able to conquer and survive till the end.”
Both said it was an ‘unexpected’ triumph for all the contestants did their best, and they were all already ‘winners’.
Ortega, who was once a Dumaguete Sports Idol 2012 and Mr. YES-O 2017 won the awards of Best in Talent, Best Speaker, Mr. Professionalism and Best in Production Number.
Magat, who had won Miss Little Bais, Miss Earth (Sibulan) in 2011, Miss Bais City National Science High School, 2013 and Miss Nutrition 2014, bagged the Best in Production Number award.
