because of effective financial management, Silliman University will no be increasing both tuition fees an miscellaneous fees for incoming school year 2014-2015.
Mark Raygan Garcia, Office of Information and Publications director, said the decision was made because the university was “successful at maintaining a good financial standing “. He also said it is Silliman’s way to provide a high quality education at an affordable price.
“we do understand that there’s a growing demand for quality education and we want to offer that to anyone at a cost that will save the university from incurring a deficit”, he said.
Garcia added that continuing students should not worry about possible fee increase in the future because the university’s payment scheme was designed to protect them.
“[With the payment scheme], your tuition when you were first year will be your tuition until you graduate. in the event that you go beyond the four year degree program [ or allotted time for your degree program], that’s when the increase comes in”, he said
According to Garcia, the only increase in miscellaneous fees this year was fro the internet subscription.
