Living Young, Wild & Free

By Stefan Daniel Alcantara

busy with school. We face our books every minute of every day.

We sleep late only to wake up early in the morning looking like one of those zombies on the Walking Dead Series. Now let me ask you, where is life in that?

Don’t get me wrong. I am notsaying that being serious in school is a bad thing. In fact it’s what we should be doing. But the sad part is when it’s the ONLY thing we are actually doing. We focus on what we know is the future that we have forgotten on what is today. And in turn, we have forgotten about ourselves.

We have forgotten about what we call as life. We only live young once.

Now is the time to be crazy because we have the guts. Now is the time to be unreasonable because the reasons are for us to make and break. Now is the time to commit to making mistakes because we learn how to stand to correct them. Now is the time to break rules because we know the rules.

When we die, the only thing that matters in our tombstone is not the date of our birth and the day of our death; what matters is that dash in between those two dates. Because it’s that little line which symbolizes the life we earned in the middle of being born and taking our last breath.

Sometimes we get too serious that we have forgotten that we still have the world to explore and we still have the rest of our lives ahead of us.
We should enjoy the little things in life, for one day we may look back and realize they were the big things.
When our would-be children sit on our lap and ask us our stories, our tales wouldn’t be those moments we faced our books day in and day out, not those times we got high scores in our tests, but those times we did all the silly ideas we could think. When silver has gotten the best of our hair, these beautiful moments will visit us. And they will surely paint a smile on our faces.

Those memories are what we would live for and we should always give time to create them today.
Our actions now will be our memories later. And it’s the memories that we have made that will render life boundless to time and eternal. And from memories, we shall be writing our own stories.

After all, we only have one life to live and once is enough if we do it right. Why not enjoy life now and just take a breather? Because it is true: life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the
moments that take our breath away.
